Drop of FTV..... a reply from Comet Cable

We sent Comet Cable an email inquiring about the drop of Fashion Tv. We expressed the fact that many customers were unhappy with the change and here is the reply given to us by Mr. Harold Perera, Head of Advertising.

Please be good enough to publish the following in your valuable Comet Cable Forum

As we strive to give our customers the best in entertainment, we were looking at the possibility of introducing new channels to our line up.

So far, we have tested 2 channels namely NDTV & Nick. The feedback we have received is fabulous. We will be testing 2 more channels within the next few weeks and with the feedback from the 2 new channels we will decide which channel will be on air. After all it is our valued customers who will have the final say. We take this opportunity to infor our dear customers to bear with us for a short while more as we will give them and their families the best in home entertainment.

Thank You

this is crap. we asked what happened FTV. he was jabbering about something else. anyway why cant they tell what are those new channels they going to test. and why cant they do it in new channel. after channel 18 everything is free. do it one of those. or may i say they have technology to air only 18 channels...

Dude - Harrold. Do you think all of us are idiots?

You have no, repeat NO, right to test channels at the expense of an already existing channel. You can test on another channel if you like.

Please also be kind enough to circulate to the subscribers a compilation of the feedback received, together with the details of the subscribers and have it available for inspection at your office. If you don't, someone, just someone, might think you were bullshitting.

The response to NDTV has been unequivocally negative on this blog. The reaction to the the drop of Fashion TV has been bordering on rioting.

We want the product we are paying you for...not some product you want to test. If you're not giving us FTV and instead cheaper Indian channels, I demand a proportionate reduction in monthly rental.

Ado Harold as much as you want to save a butt load of cash screening NDTv which is bundled in free of charge with the Indian satellite feed, it is of NO VALUE to us viewers. We have stated very clearly that WE WANT FTV BACK ON AIR!!!!!!!! (is that clear enough for you).

If a sizeable number of comet customers want a channel they have paid for back on the air... it's your perrogative to comply, unless of course you really don't value their opinions. Have a bloody backbone and stand up for your customers if you're being pressured by fascist groups.

This is the internet and it is the 21st century so it would be good if Harold could post his thoughts properly on this blog instead of sending something his PR buffoon thought of.

If you're going to give us new channels give us NEW channels and DON'T take away existing channels that we like.

Comet Cable is a business with great potential but unfortunately they don't seem to recognize this and keep treating their customer base like s%&t.

thDear Harrold,
you clearly haven't a clue as to who your customers are or what they think of you and you companies decisions.. but its just basic common sense that if you want to test out a new channel, you actually use a new channel without doing it at the expense of an existing one.

Also it would be interesting reading to see what your so called positive response actually was. I dont really think you could take "Bring back FTv you @#$%'s" as a positive feedback..

So with all this you have started giving new connections,Where did you get the decorders from? Siberia or Tunisia? And will subscribers loose channels when the network is congested.

Champions Trophy on the coner. anyone have idea wich channel going to air it?? if i am correct last tringular played india/westindes/austrila matches did not air on comet. this is unlike thing for comet normaly they air DD sport. any idea whats going on ??

Anonymous said...

Champions trophy is going to be on SETMAX,There is no one in Sri Lanka who has the rights for same. Not even LBN or CBNsat the (closed operators). So we have to depend on channel eye.

ADO HAROLD (Koheda Yanne Malle Pol),why cant you get Zee Sports something in place of FTV

Anonymous said...

yep Zee network will be good option. rather then NDTV.

from the time comet was opened they had the technology to air up to 18 channels only. for all these years comet has not gone forward only backwards except for their charges. if cbn & lbn did not get shut down then i think comet would have only a handful of customers by now...
i think the time is right to comet to go digital & stop their nonsenses. by the way does mr. harold or scobie watch NDTV??
come on guys.. let us have some value for our money...

Comet been first cable operator in sri lanka its so sad to hear they can only air 18 channels for all this time. I wonder why decoder can go up to 99 cannels and them swapping with other channels. Anyway don’t think they have enough money to invest for new technology.

What nonsensance the Dish TV connection i use as the secondry connection has 166 channels out of which around 120 are pay channels.

i am just keeping this shit with 18 channels only to hear stories like this kohede yanne malle pol of harrold uncle.

They will never invest in digital technology as it is a huge investment, and to be certain i dont think they have even applied for the new licening of sattelite and cable TV.

As for the previous blogger i am also amazed at the channel selection available in dishtv india and they have no problems with ftv.Anyone interested on those 166 channels can log on to www.dishtvindia.com,and i hope our friend Harrold also logs on and see what content is all about

hi all, i used to receive monthly news letter from comet. actually Harrold the one sent them. past few week didn’t receive that. hope all this blaming he didn’t loose his job. actually news letter showed some one in there working :D

Anonymous said...

I saw comet advertise for local add's. With big annoying scrolled text and replaced with Indian add. Hope they are not going to do it like normal local channels

Anonymous said...

To those who don't want FTV... go @#$% yourselves.

FTV is a better channel than NDtv and better than any other options... another movie channel would just mean another 22 hours of shitty films with a decent one thrown in (unless of course you consider 'air bud' to be a decent flick... then see my first suggestion).

Anonymous said...

comet done it again. they replace NDTV with another news channel (Asia news ) or something.. "Comet Cable offers the Sri Lankan population a wide range of viewing option for the best television entertainment available." he he he what a joke

Harrold and his New Letter gone dead..

Anonymous said...
