Comet Cable 8th Anniversary

Well it seems that Comet Cable is celebrating 8 years of service this month. Well that is a great achievement since they are the pioneering Cable tv provider in Sri Lanka.

Comet has done a great job entertaining the public but it would be nice to see Comet upgrading it's technology.

We were told previously that Comet will be launching their digital transmissions by the end of this year. We did send an email to Comet a few weeks ago and have not received a reply as yet.

Has the digital upgrade being postponed again? Well we hope not and we hope that Comet will reply with a clear indication of exactly when this illusive digitalization is expected.

Anyway Happy Anniversary to Comet Cable and all the best for the years ahead.

Keep us updated on the digital TV situation at Comet. On 19 Dec 2005 I got an email reply from them, saying they will be starting digital in April 2006.

Still waiting...

With the news that CBN Sat has been taken over by Dialog (confirmed by a senior manager) I can see some real competition for Comet Cable who have been quite complacent for years. If Comet Cable wishes to SURVIVE then they should get their act together VERY fast!

Digital on comet is pipedream. They dont have any idea in which direction they are heading except the fact that they are frantically giving proposals to all and sundry to sell the company. Nobody wants to touch it, so they say even with a barge pole. Pity the pioneers seem to have to wait till the year 3000 to go digital, Hell would have frozen by then

Funny things seem to be happenning at comet cable. When i went to pay my annual bill there was a change in the environment around. Strange looking guys seem to be controlling the company. They looked thugs to me the way they addressed me as to where i was heading.Only when i told them that it was regarding my bill payment their faces transformed into a smile. It was like going to a nightclub controlled by bouncers. As a comet customer i must say i was disappointed.

I'm moving to cbn sat as soon as they officially launch again. Who cares whether Comet goes digital or not. Do they een have the finances?

Comet now has 18 channels. CBNsat has 28 channels. 10 more than Comet. And their selection is better.

On CBNsat I am confident of expansion, because we can all trust Dialog Telekom. And also they do not have limitations due to outdated technology.

As soon as CBNsat is back there will be no chance for Comet or SATnet. Here are some reasons for people to change from Comet to CBNsat:-

1 - No annoying (and maybe illegal) ads covering half the video on most channels

2 - Fully Digital

3 - Confidence that there will be expansion of features, channels, etc.

4 - Definetely more channels than Comet

5 - EPG

6 - Quite cheap for services provided

7 - Clear signal except dring rain (only for few minutes; happens to all Ku Band systems)

8 - Clear DVD video and CD quality audio

9 - Fixing a Sat is easier than fixing a BBQ grill on a pole

10- Much much more...

Believe me, I've seen the real thing, and I' seeing it today.

Is it true that Dialog Telekom is planning on taking over Comet Cable?

I am a long suffering comet susbcriber who was with them over a long time but it's time to say Adios Comet!

As soon as CBNSAT stabalises their service i am moving over to them

i also suffered a lot with comet cable. i was with them since i paid till this december and my subscription expires in january. i will not extend it again.

definitely cbnsat is a better option. i saw they have 2 hbo channels and about 30 channels for the same monthly rental we pay for comet. my comet antenna in nugegoda is about 40 feet tall. it is bit shaky now and when lightning strikes i pray to god.

i think cbnsat is the ideal solution for me.

good bye comet !

I'm leaving this comet too.
there is no future with comet. We need new technology. not analog.

I'm waiting cbn for your official relase

move to people who listen than the goons who run comet cause they fail to deliver the digital promise and its getting stale now.

I already advanced for a new CBNsat connection as they are not installing the equipment untill the transmission is fully functional.

I am thinking how i could sell my exsisting connection to someone,The dish can be used as a BBQ grill,What to do with the box because its so oudated.

The only reason I am with Comet is cos there is no alternative in Col 7. I am looking forward to moving to CBNSat as soon as they launch again. Comet is overpriced for a poor service.
