Some Comet Cable Customers planning move

We are receiving a couple of interesting emails and comments by some Comet Cable customers saying that they are awaiting the relaunch of CBNsat under Dialog Telekom in order to move to CBNsat. This is mainly due to the fact that the digital launch of Comet Cable is being dragged on indefinitely and they promised to launch the digital transmissions by the end of this year but nothing is happening still.

An email that we sent to Comet Cable a few weeks ago has not been replied to either. If Comet does not get their act together it may spell the end for the pioneering cable television company in Sri Lanka because they will face intense competition from the likes of CBNsat and the upcoming cable television companies.

I dont think anyone has to convert,As the guys at Sri Lakvahini told me they will use the transponders they have leased out at YAMAL sattelite to commence the digital transmission with immediate effect,The exsisting subscribers will have to pay 12,000/- plus vat to avail the digital option,Other than the channels available Mr.Kithsiri said that they have signed up with zee,hbo signature and some sony channels when they go digital.

I think with the Government backing on them,They will be very comfortable.

how true this is ?? or is it another wild goose chase ??

isnt srilakvahini having issues with management as reported in the blog.

well if they have signed up with content providers like hbo or zee it is not indicative on content providers sites and besides they have not operated in commercial trials even of their channel itself without talking about others content.

at the end of day its your money, make a informed choice and looking at future expansions of such companies.

Sri Lakvahini is managed by the former MD of HNB Daya Muthukumarana,So i think he will give a very good service and on par with CBNsat,I spoke to Mr.Kithsiri and he said that all agreements have been signed and he is the production manager handling all the technical aspects.

The board of Sri Lakvahini include Rohan Welivita & Nalin Atygalle.
So i think comet is in safe hands and we can expect the digital transmission by january.

you can reserve your digibox by calling Mr.Kithsiri on 4941735

12000/- for digital. Wow they must be giving a satelite dish made of disposed CometGrill wires (BBQ thing which is connected to your decoder).

DOnt worry. new connection for analog comet is 20,000. How could you buy a dish, decoder and lnb for 12000. Price will sky rocket.

Wish srilakvahini would have made a better choice and taken LBN and freed it from its pain.

Guys/Gals!!

Don't be hasty. Just WAIT about 6 - 9 months and THEN decide. Asset Media was originally planning on launching their service (before buying out CBNSAT) in April 2007, and SLT too is said to come up with a TV service once ADSL2+ service is launched mid 2007.

W A I T and you may have the choice of selecting the best service.... PRICES are likely to come down too. The more service providers the better for all of us.
