I spoke to Customer Service today regarding this issue and they informed me that all Sports Channels will be back during the first week of Jan :)
However going by their past record, I think they are bluffing.
One of my neighbours (another Comet subscriber) has a friend who works at Multivision. This friend says that the Indians are no longer interested in Comet & that many senior staff members have commenced seeking employment elsewhere. So it looks like Comet's days are numbered.
Since LBN is not available in my area, I will be compelled to switch to DTV. Have you guys heard anything negative about DTV ?

@kayhaytha
COMET is taking us for a ride. It is high time we move to other providers. Try to get DISH TV or TATASKY directly from India. It is cheaper and if you go for multiroom much cheaper. Check there websites, you will get a better picture.

1, never ever trust comet.
2, always keep track of your bill payment cos they dont.
3, dont waist your money calling customer care. they dont have clue and they lie (one way ticket to hell for customer care guys)

The way comet is heading looks like they are close to dead end.

At around 5.30 this evening, a message was scrolled across Hallmark informing customers to collect the Programme Guide for Jan from the Multivision Office.
Looks like the situation has deteriorated very badly at Comet. They can no longer afford the cost of having the Guide delivered to our homes as has been the practice hitherto.

@podiman
I am told that there are much more advertisements on Dish TV than on DTV. Can you please comment ? Thanks.

@kayhaytha,
Yes that is correct more ads on it. If you are a movie lover better go for DTV if not get one from India. There are 4 DTH opearaters in India more compitition, that is why it is cheap over there. Cheak the websites.

The Programme Guide for Jan 2008 does not contain details for ANY of the Sports Channels.This means that we will only have the rubbish on Doordarshan Sports served to us during this month.

AAARGGHHHH ........... !!!!

@ Kayhaytha
The good news is that DD Sports they may show the 2008 Olympics.

The bad news is that Comet will probably be in its grave by August 2008.

HBO and Cinemax are now off the air.
It is only a matter of time before the Star channels fade away.
Still the Management at Multivision maintain a stoical silence. No explanations. Not even an apology.
Fcuk You, Comet. (Oops! Sorry Admin.)

Daily news 27/03/2008

Multivision allowed to transmit
Sandasen Marasinghe

Colombo District Judge Sisira Ratnayake yesterday issued an enjoining order preventing Union Residencies (Pvt) Ltd from taking measures not to allow the Ruhunu 2001 Multivision (Pvt) Ltd to use the satellite dishes on the rooftop of the Union Residencies (Pvt) Ltd for their transmission.

The plaintiff Ruhunu 2001 Multivision (Pvt) Ltd filing the plaint before the District Court stated that it was using the two existing satellite dishes on the rooftop of the Union Residencies (Pvt) Ltd to operate their pay TV Service and Cable TV network.

The plaintiff stated that it entered into an agreement with the defendant company on November 24, 1997 to use the two existing satellites on the rooftop of the defendant company for 20 years to broadcast and transmit the plaintiff's services.

Plaintiff further submitted that the defendant later informed the plaintiff that they were unable to supply the services to the Ruhunu 2001 Multivision (Pvt) Ltd. The plaintiff further stated that the Ruhunu 2001 Multivision (Pvt) Ltd was incorporated as a joint venture between an Australian Company and Southern Development Authority to set up and operate a pay Cable Network in Sri Lanka.

The Government owns a 10 per cent share in the Ruhunu 2001 Multivision (Pvt) Ltd through the Southern Development Authority.

The Plaintiff evaluated the case for Rs. one million.

NOW WHAT DOES THIS MEAN....??
WILL THEY OR WONT THEY REMOVE MY GODDAMN ANTENNA.....?
