According to reports being received the Star Package channels are in danger of being removed from Comet Cable since messages are being flashed across the screens regarding non payment of dues by Comet Cable to Star Television.
The message reads as follows "THIS CABLE NETWORK HAS LARGE PAYMENTS DUE AND LIABLE FOR DISCONNECTION". If the Star Package is also removed due to non payment there will be a large percentage of free to air channels in comparison to the pay channels. This will leave Comet subscribers paying their rentals just to watch free to air channels. Some have decided not to pay their rentals until the problems are rectified and we believe that many others will follow if this continues.
After the initial disruption to Cinemax and HBO a few weeks ago it was restored and then Cinemax was taken off air and replaced with NHK which was later replaced with Al Jazeera. We are unable to confirm whether Cinemax has returned.
Please keep us updated on the latest on Comet Cable and the situation regarding the Star Channels as the days progress.

you forgot they also took off FTV. anyway, we are also utterly dissapointed and are taking dialog cable tv soon. until then i've instructed not to pay the rental cause these arses are not even providing quality service. these guys are on their way out. dont bother with them, switch to dialog.
Star package is back for the moment. Hope it will be there for sometime.

One of my friends called comet to inquire if he could buy a connection. they have replied that they are not giving connections anymore for about another couple of months. the reason they say is that their management may change and dont know what channels will be out and dont know what kind of packages will be available.
i think this is not true. its just that they dont know what time comet may close and ask them to go home.
Time to pack up our bags guys and lets go to Dish or DTV.

hey podiman tell me who in comet will give us the official situation? When you talk to c.c they cut the line. They never put us to their management to talk to. how the hell are we to know the real official situation? no body speaks there.
I think if you guys want to know the real situation one of you should visit the comet offices but the best course of action is to forget about comet and go to another provider.

now days i don't even bothered to switch on the cable . the truth behind this is the way its going comet current management don't have money pay the rentals for channels. and they don't have money to upgrade the technology to digital. and they don't have license to air the cable (sharing the cable license from SDA) . so no new buyers with brine will buy this stupid company. cos if they buy they have to upgrade to digital and pay the dues of channels short out legal problems they had/have. so why go all the trouble . just setup new company and share the license with SDA. and have fresh contract with cable channels. only people will be interest on comet will be arpico. so they can use the antennas to provide new range of BBQ equipment. :D

Dish TV India only has advertisement-filled HBO India and STAR Movies India.
All channels are Indian feeds. There is little chance of ad-free Indian channels.

thanx guys for your comments. i did phone up them and ask about this. they said it is original HBO Asia and Star movies HK. when i asked some questions they said will setup a demonstrations for me and i can have look at my self. and i checked distv website they dont have 177 channels. i request about this (i am not worry about quantity i will watching handful of channels . just to know basis i asked.) they said i can count the channels.

I beleive Dish TV has around 180 channels as of now, including certain test channels.
You might want to wait for the launch of Reliance Big TV in March. They already have around 150 channels and will soon reach 200. At the moment only Reliance employees are allowed to view the test transmissions.
If I were you I'd wait for Reliance to do its magic on the market. There will be price drops all around.

I don't think they will have an official dealer in Sri Lanka any time soon.
But of course you can get hold of it the same way many people get Tata Sky in Sri Lanka. I won't comment on legality.
I thing SATNET already advertise in their web for Reliance Big TV. So, you can get the connection from them. But, I don't know about their service quality.

Man Telecave's Dish TV is so cool & worth for RS.19,800 because it has 177 channel's including all the channel's which Dialog sat & LBN has & has a monthly rental of only RS.1380 with TV games in their de-corders
