After months of speculation about the future of Comet Cable it seems that the company is finally breaking up under immense mismanagement and heavy competition.
According to reports being received by us Chalmway and James Scobie have sold the company to an Indian company without disclosing the court dispute with the Hettiarachchi family. Therefore now since the Indian company has found out about the disputes in Comet Cable they released the rumor regarding the Digital conversion several months ago to keep subscribers paying on time and recover as much as possible their losses from purchasing Comet Cable. We got these reports sometime ago but could not verify the authenticity but now the way the things are progressing it is now more clear to us and we are releasing this information for the benefit of Comet subscribers and anyone planning to purchase Comet Cable.
What will happen to the company once the Indians realize that they cannot recover anymore is left to be seen? This would explain why the channels keep going off air and are not returned. It is now time for Comet subscribers to protect their investment otherwise they will be kept in the dark until the day Comet Cable closes and the new management pulls out of Sri Lanka.
We hope that some major newspaper in Sri Lanka will do some investigation into this story and expose these Indians and the James Scobie-Chalmway involvement. Comet Cable under any management is answerable to their subscribers and it is now the subscribers who must take steps and take this company to task.

Why is there anything going to happen like that?. Dialog needs more compitition than only they will be more compititive.
its just thought.. but i will tell you the true picture whats going on comet what i saw and what i heard. went to pay the bill today as usual to comet. number of people there complaining about there bill payment. as for them they had paid but invoice shows they has number of months due. and all the happening there was person disconnect his connection this is what i heard from him " i am loyal customer for 7 yrs i always pay annually. and taking the sports channels out this is how you treating me. i want my refund and disconnection of my cable." " you cant even give sports channels how you going to give digital. i am going to dialog TV" after i heard this i had to mind paying my bill. while i was thinking this i just look around. walls have not painted at lease for 2 yrs. there plenty of empty (clean) desks. there was less then 12 staff at that time. funny i never heard at lease one phone ring. no one call or they don't answer calls ??? . after i paid my bill and walk out to door. a guy excused when i look at him he had bunch of cable guides . he is distribution it . took the cable guide its thin as ever turn the page to see what management had to say .. surprise that page is missing. i was so worried wind might blow the cable guide out :D . looking at comet office looks like its close to end. hope i didn't do a stupid thing paying the bill. then again i should pay the serivice i get :D
Now Hallmark has gone for the last 2 days. HBO and CINAMAX is back don't know for how long??? It seems that COMET doesn't have plans to get things in order. They said sports channels will come back biginning January, it is almost mid January but no sports. It seems the end of COMET.
Hallmark is back again. Why can they bring the sports channels back?? Without sports channels COMET will go no where.
I'm new to this blog. I just want to know whether I'm using the same Comet cable for Rs. 400 rental. We get the payment invoice with Comet cable logo. So I guess it is. But according to comet cable website there is no package available for Rs. 400.
The connection I got from New Moor Street. Some tamil guys doing it. I get 50 channels including local.

nope.. this guys are sub agents of comet. didnt know they are using the same logos until now. what we talking about the main comet guys. if ur connection coming through coax cable then ur getting it from a sub agent. main comet air microwave link no cables.
OK thanks for the info. I just got confused with Comet Cable logo on the receipt. I get coax cable in which I dont get HBO channels.

That place is going down for sure. I also applied for disconnection from comet. They asked me to write a letter but refused to acknowledge receipt. I asked for a manager but nobody appeared. Finally a senior exec came and realised I was only asking that my disconnection notice be given an acknowledgement so its legally valid and finally sent me on my way. They said it will take 3 weeks for disconnection because there are so many disconnections!!! :( Users if you are going to disconnect do it in writing if not you may get a hefty bill 6 months on!!!
