We are receiving reports that Star Movies and Star Plus are still not yet available after they went off air on June 21st. According to initial reports Star World is being telecast via Tata SKY which is not legal but we wonder why they do not do the same with Star Movies and Star Plus. One reason could be because the Star Movies that Comet Cable shows is the East Asia feed but Star Movies on Tata SKY is the Indian feed. Maybe the same reason applies for Star Plus. Hopefully a Comet Subscriber could enlighten us whether they were receiving the Indian feed of Star Plus or some other feed. Star World would not have been a problem for Comet Cable since the feed they telecasted is the same Indian feed that is being carried by Tata SKY.
Comet Cable had promised its subscribers that the problem will be sorted out within the day but so far nothing has happened. At the moment they seem to be telecasting some DD Hindi channels as a replacement.

dialog tv has hell of issues, if U discuss it here U all will go mad. U have to learn, how 1 can be treated like shit just for 25 and 50 rupees.
dtv punishes their customers who R paying 1375/- to pay 1400/- to get all channels.
Will there be an issue with STAR Sports as well?

We were receiving Indian feeds of Star Movies, Star Plus & Star World.
It seems that comet is having problems.
Still no Star Movies & Star Plus
as of 8.30 am today.
The newest "story" told by customer care is that they have 2 recivers for Star Movies & Star Plus and both are burned so have to get from India and will be ok within the week.
First it was a small technical problem then Problem with 2 dishes
now this. What a joke! do they think we are so stupid to belive this shit.
No point in scolding the customer care guys after all they are just doing a job

Sri Lanka pay TV firm loses Aussie investor

Ultrapay Limited, the Australian broadband and mobile wireless services company, has sold the stake it held in Sri Lanka's Ruhuna Multivision pay tv business, the company said.
Ultrapay held the stake in Ruhuna Multivision, which runs Comet Cable, through its subsidiary Chalmway Private Limited.
The company says the sale netted 1.2 million Australian dollars.
“The profit received on the sale of the Chalmway business was at the top end of our expectations," Michael Boyd, Chairman of UltraPay Limited said in a regulatory filing.
"It is a pleasing outcome given the considerable uncertainty surrounding the sale and the difficult environment of Sri Lanka.”
It was not clear who the buyer was.
Officials from Multivision were not available for comment.
The Southern Development Authority (SDA) is also a 50 percent shareholder in Multivision.
Last year, the local pay tv company faced a withdrawal of its broadcast rights after defaulting on fees. The SDA owns the broadcast license for Ruhuna Multivision (Pvt) Limited.
Comet Cable has an 18,000 strong customer base and is one of the oldest pay television companies in Sri Lanka with channels ranging from movies, sports, fashion to music.

if this announcement is not true Ultrapy directors will have to face legal sanctions in Australia

STAR WORLD has now gone off the air.
Thus star package no longer exists on Comet due to non payment.
It seems that comet has not paid Star and the star package is off. They were showing star world from tatasky. Tatasky got to know about it and disconected it too. I realy don't know what is next.
Looks like Comet is absolutely unconcerned about it's customer base.
Customer service informed me last afternoon that Star will be back to normal by Friday (Ha ha! - what a joke). Even if they have lost Star temporarily why the hell can't they fill these 3 channels with some FTA channels like Al Jazeera & ABC for the moment? I sent the buggers an email to this effect - but there has been a loud silence from their end up to this moment.
Why doesn't the new Owner at least issue a statement re-assuring the subscribers of an improved service in the near future? Even if they do not wish to address us directly, surely they could place a notice on their web-site.
I will definitely not be paying my subscription fee for July 2007 until Star is restored because Comet is not providing me with the 18 channels I have subscribed to.

What if Comet has not actually been sold and James scobie has taken all the money and run to Australia.The Australian company Ultrapy has said that they have recived 1.2 million Aus $ for the sale but not from who they have recived it from so they are some what ok legally in Australia
This ties in with the new owners being reluctant to announce themselves and not paying of dues to Star TV,....etc
I hope what i said above proves to be false because otherwise we comet customers will be finished
