More on Comet Digital Plans

Rumors indicate that Comet will be launching Digital Services by September 2007. Comet is not giving any information regarding the new channels or subscription rates and connection rates but it seems that after several years of being delayed Comet Digital will be a reality soon. We also received a scanned copy of the Comet Newsletter and we are publishing it below for your reference. We hope that will also not get stretched like any of the previous announcements. If this becomes a reality, there will be three companies (Dialog TV, LBN and Comet Digital) vying for the spot of leading cable television operator in Sri Lanka and soon they will be joined by SLT IPTV. All this will mean that the subscriber will reap the benefits from the competitive offers.

Yep..that's good to here. Hope the new management would act accordingly and soon. There have been so many occasions that they have let us down. But we are ok with it as they never ever interupted it's services.

Why are you always comparing comet with dtv?

If you dont want dtv people to comment here, then you rather not talk about it in the comet blog.

Guys if you are comet customers beware of believing everything you hear. I think this comet going digital is a big farce.

I dont think that any Indians have bought the company too. why are they not making a announcement of who they are? If they are really going digital in september the new owners dont have to be worried they can confidently say listen we are the new owners and we will upgrade this service in september.

All i can say for comet customers is keep your ears open. personally i think this is a scam perpetated by the local guys who are running the show at comet Junkeer and the other fellow.

We will know the truth in 28 days i hope if comet says in september that upgrading will take another month customers wont belive them.

channel 14 (VH1) Replaced by star cricket. Hoooraayyyyy

Actually VH1 has been shifted to Channel 12 and MTV has been replaced by Star Cricket - and without any fuss or noise either on the part of Comet. Let us hope this change is of a permanent nature.
This augurs well for the future. Shows that Comet is determined to provide it's subscribers with the best in Cable TV.
It is welcome relief for all of us who experienced the uncertainties leading up to the 01st of June - which many predicted would herald the end of Comet.
